Dear friends and colleagues, As many of you know, I have been a proud member of Hatzolah in both responder and administrative capacities for over fifteen years. This dual responsibility has given me a unique insight into our incredible work and accomplishments, and our potential capacity. As Hatzolah members, many of us are not in the medical field within the context of our professional lives. Yet, we have to become a highly trained and capable medical professional instantaneously. In spite of this challenge, our benevolence, resolve, and continuous training rise to the occasion. Being responsible for procuring and maintaining our Medical equipment, Medication, Fleet, and our Base, I see your generous support first hand. From the bandages we purchase being applied to simple injuries, to critical life saving drugs that could restore a normal cardiac rhythm through an IV, and then ultimately transport you under any weather condition in our state of the art ambulances, your generous support can and has made the difference to many people. It is through the triad of our esteemed membership, the community's support, and lots of D'seyata Deshmaya, we are able to perform this great responsibility. Fundraising is not a simple project. Many of us are not fundraisers and hesitate to solicit funds for a Tzedaka. However, as I learned from a dear friend, "Hatzolah is not a Tzedaka. It is an insurance policy". This "policy" provides piece of mind to the community. This "policy" provides incredible prehospital care to our community (and even beyond). As we approach the yomim noarayim, please consider giving generously to Hatzolah of SI. Shana Tova to you and your families.
